Don’t you just hate it when you get a reminder call from your waste provider that its Grease Trap cleaning time.
Spending money on something you can’t see and wish it didn’t exist.
” Hi, im calling from ABC waste services and I’d like to inform you that your grease trap is due for a pump out, what day and time would suit you best?”
“Aaahhh, i’ll call you back and let you know”
1 month later on a Sunday night
” Hi, I need my grease trap pumped out urgently, its overflowing down the lane-way and my sinks are blocked, I can’t trade like this.”
This is a scenario that happens all too often and can cost you an immense amount of your hard earned cash when your grease trap blocks up at the wrong time.
When selecting a waste provider to pump out your grease trap it is important to ask the following questions:
- Do you provide a reminder service when the grease trap is next due
- Can you log it off with my local water authority
- Will you provide me with an EPA certificate
It is also important to have the following information ready before you ask for a quote
- Location of the grease trap i.e under sink, at the rear, in the kitchen floor
- The capacity in litres, if you can’t get this information ask the company for quotes on various sizes
- Access for vehicles, if you think the truck won’t fit in a lane-way or underground car park ask the waste provider if they have a smaller vehicle.
- Time of day you want the service done. In most cases early morning is the best time as a grease trap will create a bad odour. Be aware of your neighbours, you wouldn’t want to affect their trade whilst you have your grease trap pumped out.
It is highly recommended that your grease trap is pumped out regularly, it’s best to liaise with your local water authority and or waste service provider.
Remember, your local waste provider wants you to succeed without having to worry about that pesky grease trap.
