From us to you

A seed to grow.

We spend our days dealing with what people throw away. This is something worth keeping.

Open it up, see what you've got, and give it time.

Then read on to meet the people who gave it to you.

A little green on the desk, a bigger waste recovery story behind it.

Plant Care

Keeping your new mate happy

  1. 1Soak the pellet in water for 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. 2Put the expanded pellet in the pot.
  3. 3Break off one or two seed sticks. Push them point first into the soil, up to the printed line.
  4. 4Keep the soil damp, not wet. Seeds take 10 to 14 days to come up.
  5. 5When seedlings appear, leave the sticks where they are. Let the strongest one grow.
  6. 6Once it has its third set of leaves, move it to the garden or a bigger pot.

The Story

Who's Stows?

We're a waste management business based right here in Hume, in Campbellfield.

1892 Horse and cart
2026 Vacuum tankers
4 generations

Back then it was horse and cart. Today it's vacuum tankers and hook lifts working across Melbourne and regional Victoria.

And we're not slowing down. Right now we're:

  • Trialling renewable diesel across our fleet. One of the first waste operators in Victoria to do it.
  • Recovering fats, oils and grease from the waste stream and turning it into something useful.
  • Backing local. From the Healthy Breakfast Project to nights like this one.
134 years in, and the most interesting chapter is the one we're writing now.

What We're Growing

Progress for our modern world

The plant is a small reminder of a bigger direction: cleaner fuels, smarter recovery, and stronger local connections.

Renewable diesel trials

Testing cleaner fleet options in real operating conditions, not just on paper.

Resource recovery

Recovering fats, oils and grease from waste streams and finding better second uses.

Backing local

Supporting community projects and the people who keep Hume moving.
